Ketogenic diet: a fat feast with a clear conscience The ketogenic diet (also known as the ketone diet or simply keto diet) is the most popular type of diet for weight loss that is being discussed and mysterious today.
The progressive public is actively losing weight by eating homemade mayonnaise, and in metropolitan catering establishments you can even order a “sample” of keto diet - a burger, which is an outgoing juice cutlet, free from buns and other excesses. Foreign scientists publish all the new research, proving the benefit of an unusual menu, calling the process, forcing the body to get energy from fat, not carbohydrates, but domestic experts on weight loss are not in a hurry to trust the fashionable diet fad. The truth is, as usual, somewhere near. In a fashion diet on chops A can of coconut oil, three dozen eggs, a dozen steaks, seven grams of fresh lard, a bottle of olive oil, a kilogram of tofu, a few bunches of radish and a bag of fresh herbs. Something like this is the result of going to the supermarket of an adept of the increasingly popular ketone diet (keto diet). It is time to think in horror: “At first he will die from indigestion, and then from cholesterol blockage of blood vessels!”. And to demonstrate their blatant ignorance about dietary trends. On a high-fat ketone diet do not get fat and do not get sick - and lose weight and heals! These chemical compounds are included in the body in a kind of closed cycle, moving from organ to organ with the bloodstream and affecting the oxidation of fatty acids. As a result, the body enters ketosis, that is, it learns to gain strength for its existence not from the usual available carbohydrate chains, but from the already accumulated deposits of adipose tissue and fat coming from food, avoiding the emptying of protein reserves. The result - an unprecedentedly rapid weight loss, strengthening of muscles, a victory over an annoying feeling of hunger and a new life. For some, even a brief rejection of carbohydrates turns into weakness, a sharp change in well-being and other signs that indicate that with ketosis, it seems, they are not on the way. Keto Diet: the story of oblivion and rebirth Ketone diet only pretends to be a fashionable novelty. For the first time, a nutritional plan that limits carbohydrates (carbo) and gives the "green light" to fats was clinically tested in the 1920s. Doctors who worked with patients suffering from diseases of the nervous system, while often prescribed courses of therapeutic fasting , sharply and significantly limiting the production of insulin and other hormones that affect the work of the central nervous system and brain. This gave excellent results, which, however, could not be enjoyed for any lengthy time for an understandable reason: on one water a person will not last long, and if we are talking about a child, the matter takes an even more serious turn. It was then that a prototype menu was developed, today known to us as the ketogenic diet. It was assumed that the diet, reshaping the metabolism in such a way that carbohydrates are no longer the main source of energy, from a chemical point of view is similar to the rejection of food. Especially outstanding results of the diet, poor in carbohydrates and rich in fats, demonstrated on the example of epilepsy: the number of painful seizures in patients was gone. Simple, original and not requiring significant material costs, the technique was used safely and widely, but, alas, not for long: the pharmacological industry proved the effectiveness of a new type of anti-convulsant medicine, and the new generation doctors preferred to prescribe pills rather than pork fat for their patients. The increasingly strong dietary trend of blaming fats for all ills also contributed to the oblivion of the antiepileptic ketone diet. Nutritionist Rimma Moisenko: “Extreme extremes are characteristic of people” Ketone diet - a stressful diet, with a lot of contraindications, and you can follow it up to 10 days at most. In my practice, this approach is used primarily by the category of people with excess weight, in which there is a violation of water or water-salt metabolism. The diet is held under the strict supervision of a dietitian, with the participation of a certain physical activity, which helps to actively break down already accumulated fats. During the first two days from the start of the diet, the brain, deprived of carbohydrates coming in from the outside, receives these carbohydrates from liver and muscle glycogen. Moreover, glycogen is destroyed only if the patient does not violate the rules of his diet. Being in the first two days is not always comfortable; lack of carbohydrates may be accompanied by lethargy, weakness, irritability. At the same time, the state of health of the patient, oddly enough, becomes better, due to the fact that the appetite decreases, and the brain does not require carbohydrates. It is important to ensure the accurate work of evacuating the intestinal contents and to activate the kidneys. The patient is explained with the possible consequences of non-compliance with the rules prescribed by the doctor. After 10 days, the diet should be stopped and in the diet certainly added carbohydrates that support a balanced ratio of all compositions. Thanks to this diet, in 10 days you can lose up to 10 kg of body weight, mainly due to the removal of excess fluid and splitting fat. In recent months, a large number of articles rehabilitating foods containing fats have appeared. Visit here for more guidelines.
